Lanzarote is a place like no other when it comes to wine. The small scale production is unique in that it is watered by condensation of the moisture from the night air. In La Geria, the wine growing area you will see hundreds of bowls scaped from the volcanic picon where the wine grower has dug down to the soil, through the accumulation of volcanic material from the last major eruption which finished in 1736. The Malvasia grape flourishes and labels like El Grifo, Bermejo, Vega de Yuco, Volcan, Martinón, Rubicon offering a fine selection. On our spiritual getaway we spend time in the biosphere areas and on request can visit the wine museums or wine making bodegas to sample a range of white, rose and red wines. The Stratus winery has been closed down for building permission irregularities.
